Feels Like Coming Home | +arrowsandradiation

At the words, Natasha manages a shaky laugh, hands resting on Clint’s shoulders as he holds her. “With you propping me up, you mean.“ The words are quiet, but nowhere near as bitter as they were before.

Natasha can stand on her own, has done all of her life - and she will again. But for now, she’s had about all she can take of the world for a while and giving up Clint will be harder than she thought.

"Thank you,” she says, and the words are genuine as she looks him in the eye. She feels her stomach flip, but that’s nothing new. She knows how to deal with that.

“Shh..”, he makes, wrapping his arms a bit more tightly around her, wanting her close. He smiles at her for a little moment, before he leans over to her to kiss her forehead gently.
“I’ve got you, Tasha.”, he  says quietly, looking back in her face with a smile on his own.

He doesn’t move, not now, at least, he just holds her as long as she lets him, not pulling away one single time. He knows that things were hard right now and that she wasn’t exactly okay, but he also knows that he can make her okay again.

That he can help her up once more. It’s not like he’s losing her anymore, so his confidence comes back and despite the fact that his eyes are red from crying, he still looks at her and enjoys to see her beauty.

Natasha ducks her head at the kiss, the press of his mouth - even just on her forehead - too familiar for her now. It hurts, in a way she isn’t quite expecting.

It doesn’t stop her from staying exactly as she is, every inhale drawing in the comforting tang of Clint’s aftershave from the base of his neck. Her head rests on his shoulder, and for a moment, she can make peace with what has happened.

She knows that it won’t last long - that there’s more in her future to worry her than her past - but it’s enough for now. “Will you come visit me in my office?” she asks, aiming for a joke despite her voice being a little too shaky to pull it off for now.
