Natasha stands in the doorway of the medical bay, scanning over the agent before her. “The SHIELD grapevine works quickly,” she explains, “Although I tend not to believe everything I hear.”
Ellis squinted as he glanced up at Natasha. “And uh… What exactly did you hear..?” He asked, his words a little slurred from drowsiness. He hadn’t been out of surgery too long.
“That you were in surgery,” Natasha answers simply, coming to take a seat next to the bed. Ellis looks… terrible, in fact, a far cry from the efficient, intelligent agent she has known. “Are you able to tell me more, or would you rather sleep?” There are no guards on the door - needed elsewhere in the compound according to the conversation between the nurses while she’d walked in - and Natasha will be staying either way.
