Glancing over the rest of the information, Natasha gives a nod. “More than I expected. He must be slipping, working with those who get caught.” She’s not convinced of the words - perhaps it’s simply that this Agent lives up to his billing - but she’s more concerned with the missing links on his list of affiliates.

“Why is Anya Pashkova excluded?”

“Possibly.” Ellis mused. “I suppose we’ll know if we get another lucky break.” At the question, he glanced at the list of associates, pausing at the name. Anya Pashkova… Pashkova.. It rang a bell.

Then, he remembered. “These are only the associates we know of that are, to our knowledge, still alive for questioning. Though after the slip up with his supplier, I don’t know how long they’ll be that way.” He paused. “Agents overseas found remains of Pashkova’s body just before Christmas, in the Yenisei river.” A few clicks of his mouse, and a new list was brought up on screen of the dead.

Natasha’s blood runs cold at the news, although she remains perfectly, eerily still. Pashkova had worked for Dmitri at the same time Natasha had; in fact, had been named ‘little snake’ for that reason alone. Now, she lies dead and discarded. It appears Dmitri isn’t slipping in the slightest.

After scanning through the list, she simply nods. Serov, Amelin, Yeshevsky… the list of those who lie dead while she remains breathing runs longer than she had expected, but there is no regret. Her choices and her skill brought her here - she could have been another name on the list but for her instincts.

“Comprehensive. Who do you aim to go after next, on your list of the living?”
