Natasha meets his gaze steadily, her only reaction to raise her eyebrow in response. “I have no intention of being hostile, unless you provide me with good reason to,” she tells him, knowing the threat will have little to no effect on him.
“I came to ask for your assistance. On a consultancy basis. Nothing more.”
She hates being sent to play the supplicant, but she’s the most capable of carrying the role convincingly - not to mention the fact that there is some part of her psyche fascinated by Loki.
“Would you care for me to walk in and makes those intentions clearer, or simply to escape from here and never return?”
Loki let out a low, mild chuckle before moving to make himself comfortable in a leather arm chair, gesturing for the agent to step in further and make herself comfortable if she wished.
“Apologizes, Agent. I knew not of your intent. And considering most of SHIELD still regards me as a high level threat, I presumed it to be ill. And seeing as how my assumption is entirely wrong, I am indeed in the wrong in this situation.”
Despite her demeanor, the trickster knew of Natasha’s skills as a sort of…manipulator with her actions and intentions. He would tread lightly, act as if nothing was wrong yet be completely on guard the entire time. The former Asgardian prince had been played by the SHIELD agent once before. He was not about to let it happen again.
“So, what matters bring you to me, of all people, for consultation, Agent Romanoff?”
After a quick scan of the room, Natasha takes a seat across from Loki, leaning forward just a little. She’s dressed in customary Midgardian clothing, rather than her uniform - SHIELD had decided that she would pose less of a threat this way. It doesn’t prevent her having a holster strapped to her thigh, and across her torso.
“It would appear so,” she agrees, regarding him casually. “We have a problem. A known associate of yours… Amora? She’s causing a great deal of inconvenience, and we wish to stop her.”
Natasha’s words are a gross understatement - and she herself hasn’t escaped the effect. She may have her guns strapped to her, but the enchantress has removed all memory of how to utilise them. She knows she should resent SHIELD for sending her in unarmed - but she’s equally aware that her hand to hand combat skills are invaluable now.
